The one-trip pattern

Combat Engineer OSUT at this installation has one family-attended ceremony. Most families make a single trip rather than two. Below is the family event; the other phase in this track does exist but is not a family-attended event.

Engineer OSUT Graduation

Graduation from Combat Engineer OSUT at Fort Leonard Wood marks the end of a 14-week pipeline combining BCT and Engineer AIT.

Engineers receive their MOS designation and the Castle, the Engineer branch insignia.

Venue

Venue assigned per company: Abrams Theater (most common), Baker Theater, or Nutter Field House.

Time

10:00 AM, about 1 hour. Typically held Friday. Ceremonies run approximately 10:00-11:00 AM.

Dress

Smart casual. Missouri weather is variable; indoor venues (Abrams Theater, Baker Theater, Nutter Field House) are climate-controlled. Bring layers if arriving early for outdoor waiting.

After

Soldiers typically ship to their first duty station within days of graduation.

Confirm before you plan

Some companies hold a Family Day the morning before graduation; check your unit's letter for whether yours does. A note on Engineer traditions: the Sapper Tab and the Sapper Stake competition are post-OSUT events tied to the Sapper Leader Course at unit level. They are not awarded at OSUT graduation.
