12B Combat Engineer OSUT Graduation Guide
16 weeks · Two family ceremonies · Fort Leonard Wood, MO
The two-trip decision
Combat Engineer OSUT has two distinct family-attended ceremonies. Many families travel for both; others attend only the final graduation. Here’s what each trip looks like.
Forge Ceremony (Engineer OSUT)
Venue: TBD — Fort Leonard Wood (verify venue from PAO)
The Forge Ceremony at Fort Leonard Wood marks the culmination of the BCT portion of Engineer OSUT. 🚧 TBD — confirm whether this is a family-attended event for OSUT Soldiers, the official ceremony name, timing, and venue from Fort Leonard Wood PAO. May differ from FLW BCT Forge.
Engineer OSUT Graduation
Venue: TBD — Fort Leonard Wood (verify venue from PAO)
Graduation from Combat Engineer OSUT at Fort Leonard Wood. Engineers receive their MOS designation and the Castle — the Engineer branch insignia — at the ceremony, then may ship to their first duty station within days. Engineer Corps tradition: families sometimes ask about the Sapper Tab or the Sapper Stake competition — both are separate post-OSUT items (the Sapper Leader Course at the Sapper School is a later specialization, not an OSUT graduation event). Confirm with your Soldier's unit which specific recognitions families attend; the Castle pinning typically happens at the OSUT graduation itself. 🚧 TBD — verify ceremony name, venue, family logistics, and deployment timeline from Fort Leonard Wood PAO and Engineer School.
