19K Armor OSUT Graduation Guide
22 weeks · Two family ceremonies · Fort Benning, GA
The one-trip pattern
Armor OSUT at this installation has one family-attended ceremony — most families make a single trip rather than two. Below is the family event; the other phase in this track does exist but is not a family-attended event.
Week 10 Ceremony (Armor OSUT)
Venue: 🚧 TBD — IF the Armor Week-10 ceremony exists and is family-attended, it likely runs at Kanell Field, Sand Hill (same venue as Infantry Turning Blue, accessed via the Sand Hill Family Day Entrance on Custer Road). Confirm with Fort Benning PAO before planning a trip.
Week-10 intermediate ceremony for Armor OSUT. Whether families attend this event is currently unconfirmed — Infantry OSUT has a family-attended Turning Blue at Week 10, but the Armor equivalent has not been verified with the Maneuver Center of Excellence PAO. Don't plan a Week-10 trip for an Armor Soldier until your Soldier's drill sergeant or the unit confirms there is a family event. 🚧 TBD — Fort Benning PAO call (TBD_CALL_SHEET §7.1) will resolve this; until then this entry is informational only.
Armor OSUT Graduation (Cordon-format)
Venue: Likely Inouye Field, National Infantry Museum (1775 Legacy Way, Columbus GA 31903) — same venue and off-post format as Infantry graduation per the MCoE pattern. 🚧 TBD — confirm Armor-specific date/time with Fort Benning PAO (TBD_CALL_SHEET §7).
Graduation ceremony for Armor OSUT at Fort Benning. The Cordon format — Soldiers pass through a cordon of Non-Commissioned Officers as the formal acceptance into the branch — is what families attend. The Order of the Spur (silver spurs) and Stetson presentation are SEPARATE from OSUT graduation and typically happen later at the Soldier's first duty station through a unit-conducted Spur Ride (a 1–4 day evaluation). Families should not expect Spurs at this ceremony — your Soldier earns them at unit, often months after arriving. Like Infantry, Armor graduates often deploy within days of the ceremony. The venue is highly likely the same Inouye Field used for Infantry graduation (off-post at the National Infantry Museum) — no gate entry to Fort Benning required. 🚧 TBD — confirm Armor scheduling with Fort Benning PAO.
